What She Learned: Lucia Maffei


Lucia Maffei, 28, is currently a business desk intern with NPR. She was born in Italy where she studied journalism. She then moved to the U.S. to attend Medill School of Journalism. She graduated last year with a masters degree. She was the only intern of about 40 to join the newly created Conflicts Team, which covers President Donald Trump’s potential conflicts of interest.  Continue reading


How He Got the Job: Kyle Benzion

Kyle Benzion 2.jpgKyle joined the Atlanta Falcons as the team’s social media coordinator this past season (what timing). He graduated from the University of Florida in 2014 with a telecommunications degree. He interned with WFTV and WESH in Orlando while in college. Prior to the Falcons, he worked with the University of Nebraska’s Cornhuskers and George Washington University. Kyle was behind the official Atlanta Falcons Twitter account during the Super Bowl game.

How She Got the Job: Jaimy Jones

Jaimy Jones Badge.JPGJaimy Jones attended University of Houston Clear Lake, graduated in December 2015 and earned a B.A. in Communication Studies. At the age of 35, she became a Houston Chronicle intern for the Fall 2015 semester. She was hired full-time in October 2016 as a general assignment reporter and her beat includes our newest publications. Those reporters are usually working out of smaller offices out in those areas. Jones was born and raised in Houston.

How She Got the Job: Elisabeth Armstrong, KATV

She joined the news team in April of 2016, after spending nine months as a Morning News Anchor at KETK in Tyler, TX. Elisabeth graduated with University Honors from Colorado Christian University, earning degrees in political science and philosophy. She is currently pursuing her masters of science in bioethics at Columbia University, and also has her certification in Paralegal Studies at the University of Colorado Denver.
